Congregation B’nai Israel is a vibrant congregation, with the goals of living our Jewish values and fostering participatory religious observance. CBI is located in Tustin, CA, and is a member of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism.
We are an egalitarian Conservative synagogue with exemplary educational, religious, cultural, and social programs. Our Child Development Center, Religious School, Camp B’nai Ruach, B’nai Mitzvah training, USY youth programs, adult education, Sisterhood, Men’s Club, and social programs are outstanding.
A diverse and family-friendly congregation, we have members at all levels of religious observance, those born Jewish, Jews by choice, young adults, older adults, LGBTQ and interfaith couples.
We pray together every Shabbat and holiday, often following Friday night services with festive dinners, including special evenings for families with young children, families with school-aged children, youth “Shabbat Club” dinners, and discussions with guest speakers. Each Saturday morning we hold services in our main sanctuary and regularly have additional alternative services, chanting sessions, experiential text study and youth services. We always share Kiddush lunch as a community.
Our congregants participate in repairing our local community and the world through various synagogue programs. We team with interfaith partners to prepare and serve meals for the hungry and homeless, hold Red Cross blood drives, and collect food, clothing, and books for those in need. Our Chesed committee, which brings meals and comfort to those in need, reaches out to all those in our community.
Members also enjoy a number of opportunities to engage with others with similar interests, including Yiddish, reading books, Mah Jongg, Torah study, singing, and more. With all of these activities, CBI has become our extended family, a place where we come together to pray, mark life cycle events, socialize, and celebrate throughout the year.
