Join us for Shabbat Services: Friday at 6:00 pm, Saturday at 9:30 am
An egalitarian Conservative congregation serving the diverse Orange County Jewish Community

Giving of ourselves– our time and our talents– makes us more whole.

At Congregation B’nai Israel, we have many opportunities to volunteer. Many of these opportunities ask for very small time commitments, but all are important to our community. Please let us know what you’re interested in and passionate about! Contact the CBI office to learn more about how you can participate in one of these volunteer opportunities.

Social Action Opportunities

Membership Committee

Help make sure all our members feel special, and reach out to others in the community who aren’t affiliated. Among other things, the membership committee plans membership events, and acts as ambassadors for CBI.

Program and Event Planning

Volunteer for a short term to help plan a program you are passionate about. CBI has programs and events of every kind, from speakers to Hanukkah parties, concerts to galas, child oriented to adults only. Join a committee and help make our programs and events even better.

 Greeting

We are proud to welcome congregants and visitors each week to our various Shabbat services and other events.  Greeters  serve an important role in welcoming everyone and helping people feel comfortable at CBI.

Education Committee or Class Parent

Get involved with our children’s religious education. Join the Education Committee and work with our Director of Education to help mold our program and enhance our children’s Jewish education.

Youth Commission

Work with our Youth Director to strengthen our youth groups and summer day camp experience.

Participate in Services: Leading Prayers, Reading Torah, Haftorah or Megillot

CBI prides ourselves in having lay-led services. We have over 150 individuals reading Torah each year, and invite people to read haftorah on the anniversary of their Bar/Bat Mitzvah. Want to participate but don’t have the skills yet? Our staff and members are available to help you. We also have a need for volunteers to help with youth services.

 Office Assistance

We are always looking for people who would like to help our office staff with synagogue mailings, writing thank you notes, filling in when staff are out, and general administrative help.

Housing Committee

Join our Housing VPs and make a difference in the physical appearance of our synagogue. We need committee members who take an interest in the landscape, infrastructure, security, maintenance and aesthetics of our facility.

Other

No matter what your interest, availability, or expertise is, there are many ways to give your time to CBI. Whether you are interested in volunteering your time for one hour, one day, or on an ongoing basis, contact the CBI office to join our volunteer community. We appreciate all of your support!
