Join us for Shabbat Services: Friday at 6:00 pm, Saturday at 9:30 am
An egalitarian Conservative congregation serving the diverse Orange County Jewish Community

This exciting initiative aims to connect Congregation B’nai Israel members with one another around the Shabbat table. Members will volunteer to host or be invited to participate in Shabbat dinners throughout the year.

shabbat shahome logoShabbat ShaHome has 3 goals:

Grow connections amongst congregants who may not currently know each other and strengthen connections that already exist
Invite interested CBI member to a Shabbat meal at another member’s home in the coming year
Celebrate the many Shabbat meals being eaten—and inspire more people to make Shabbat observance part of “what we do” in Orange County

Let’s celebrate Shabbat and our CBI community at “HOME.”

Shabbat ShaHome is not on our calendar at this time due to COVID-19

What our hosts had to say:

I cannot tell you how much we enjoyed the other night.  We had young kids in our house for the first time in a long time!!  … As I said to everyone that night, it is such a treat to be with people in such different stages of life, which unless it is family, actually never happens!

Oh – and did I tell you we would be happy to do this again???

Just letting you know we had a great time at our Shabbat dinner last month and we’re hosting another one for some different friends this Friday evening. We’re planning to make this a monthly “thing” and thank you for getting the ball rolling.

“We had our last Shabbat Sha-Home dinner last Friday. It was a lovely evening with dinner on the patio accompanied by much laughter and good cheer… In summary, we had a total of five guest families spread over two evenings out of a total of 10 families invited. Given how very busy everyone is, I would say that was a success!”

“We enjoyed hosting the two couples, and a good time was had by all.  Our conversation was great, and it went on for hours…It is really a warm, wonderful way to get to know our fellow members.”
