Congregation B’nai Israel offers many ways to observe Shabbat on Saturday mornings, whether traditional services in our Main Sanctuary, educational and fun services for teens and young children/families, alternative meditative and musical services, or Torah and text study. Please join us!
Shabbat Morning Services
Join us in the Main Sanctuary starting at 9:30 am every Shabbat morning for traditional prayers and a triennial Torah reading. The Saturday morning service at Congregation B’nai Israel is distinctive for grassroots participation. Each year over 180 different people read Torah and many participate in leading prayers. At the same time, our clergy are actively involved creating an engaging, uplifting service.
On select Saturdays:
Led by Carl Cedar, Junior Congregation was created especially for children 2nd through 5th grade and takes place 10:30 – 11:45 am the 3rd Shabbat of the month. Everyone has a role in making this musical, interactive service come to life! Spirited guitar and beautiful melodies enrich the prayer experience not only for kids, but for parents as well. A great preparation for b’nai mitzvah. Bring your classmates and friends – the more the merrier. And there’s always a sweet treat at the end!
Led by Amy Robinson Katz for preschool age children and their parents, Tot Shabbat takes place 10:50am-11:20am on select Shabbats of the month. Help your little ones discover the joy of Shabbat! At the end of the program the Tot Shabbat group will join the congregation in the Sanctuary. Check the Calendar for dates. Everyone is invited to attend.
