On July 13th, CBI Congregant Shelly Rimler will be having surgery to remove a recently diagnosed brain tumor. Shelly is the daughter of CBI Congregants Samy and Rachel Barnes. She is married to Jonathan Rimler who is a CBI Board Member, and they have two daughters, Talia and Adina.
Going into Shabbat this week, prior to her surgery, CBI is hosting a virtual Hafrashat Challah dedicated to Shelly. Hafrashat Challah is the mitzvah of separating challah dough, and there is an old tradition of our people saying prayers of healing when they “take challah.” If you make your own challah (or even if you don’t!), we are inviting all CBI community members to say a prayer of refuah shleimah, complete healing, for Sheli Bat Rachel. AND, when you do, please consider posting a photo/photo(s) of your challah-making and finished challah here on our Facebook event page.
You may also post wishes of healing and recovery for Shelly and/or send hand-written cards to the CBI office at Shelly Rimler c/o CBI, 2111 Bryan Avenue, Tustin, CA 92782. We want Shelly and the Rimler Family to know that we stand with them as a community and to feel the love and support of CBI.
The blessing for separating challah is BARUCH ATAH ADONAI, ELOHEINU MELECH HA-OLAM, ASHER KIDSHANU B’MITZVOTAV, V’TZIVANU L’HAFRISH CHALLAH.
