Rabbi Elie Spitz will moderate a debate highlighting contrasting viewpoints on Israel by leading voices Daniel Gordis and Peter Beinart. They have engaged in three public debates so far, marked by thoughtfulness, sharp distinction, civility, and rave reviews.
Daniel Gordis’ most recent book is Israel: A Concise History of a Nation Reborn. He serves as Senior VP of Shalem, a liberal arts college in Jerusalem and is an active editorialist for the Jerusalem Post and other widely-read periodicals. He is a recent winner of the National Jewish Book Award for his book Menachem Begin: The Battle for Israel’s Soul.
Peter Beinart is an Associate Professor of Journalism and Political Science at City University of New York and a Senior Columnist at Haaretz. He contributes to The Atlantic and National Journal and is a CNN Political Commentator and a Senior Fellow at The New America Foundation. He has authored three books: The Good Fight, The Icarus Syndrome, and The Crisis of Zionism.
Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Plan to arrive early, as we expect a large attendance and will start promptly.
